Introducing Magic Containers real-time log forwarding: Your logs, anywhere you need them

Posted by:

When we launched Magic Containers, our vision was ambitious but simple: to make global application deployments as magical as clicking a button. That meant giving developers all the tools needed to deploy, observe, and scale their applications around the world, right out of the box.

From the start, real-time logging was a big part of the promise. Any application deployed to Magic Containers would immediately be equipped with global real-time logs that you could easily tail, filter, and search, perfect for quick debugging and keeping tabs on what’s happening with your application.

But as your applications grow, so does the complexity of managing them. Debugging incidents, monitoring multiple pieces of software, processing metrics, delegating team access, and alerting when issues arise becomes crucial in running any distributed system.

Managing thousands of servers spread across 70+ countries around the world, we know this problem well, and we know that the basic logging just can’t keep up. When it’s time to scale up, you need dedicated tools to help you achieve centralized visibility, deep analytics, fine-grained access control, and a single source of truth.

That’s why we’re excited to introduce real-time log forwarding for Magic Containers.

Log forwarding for Magic Containers

With log forwarding, we’ve equipped any Magic Containers application with the ability to instantly ship your logs to any syslog endpoint, giving you the freedom to integrate with your existing observability stack.

With just a few clicks, you can now:

  • Debug faster with real-time insights into errors and trends.
  • Aggregate logs seamlessly for analytics, auditing, and compliance.
  • Control access with customizable, role-based permissions.
  • Build tailored pipelines with parsing, alerting, and integrations that match your infrastructure.
  • Manage retention to fit your compliance and storage needs.
  • View everything centrally, from services to containers to network layers.

How it works

Log forwarding connects the Magic Containers logging engine directly to your syslog server, delivering logs in real time over UDP or TCP. For security, we’ve added token-based authentication to ensure logs aren’t shipped around the world without proper authorization.

For maximum compatibility, we added support for both Syslog RFC 5424 and Syslog RFC 3164 protocols. This allows you to easily integrate Magic Containers with almost any logging, monitoring, or observability service without rearchitecting your setup.

Set it up with a few clicks, and your logs will continuously stream exactly where you need them.

Level up your observability today!

Log forwarding is now available for all Magic Containers users at no extra cost. Simply head to the Logging section in your application settings, choose your endpoint, and start streaming logs in seconds.

Your logs. Your systems. Your way. Just like magic.
