Introducing Permanent Log Storage & Real-time CDN Log Forwarding

Posted by:

Modern systems require real-time metrics and data insight. In the past, our users would need to download large, multi-gigabyte log files to get insight into their usage. On the other hand, some of you wanted to store logs for more than 3 days, but we never allowed that. This changes today!

We are happy to introduce the latest update to our logging system that now allows you to permanently store your files in a storage zone as well as forward them in real-time to a syslog endpoint of your choice.

Real-Time Log Forwarding

Log Forwarding connects the BunnyCDN logging system to your own syslog server and forwards requests logs from our edge network to your own systems in real-time.

This allows instant metrics, statistics and real-time insight into your content, who is accessing it, where and how. The log forwarding can easily integrate into logging platforms such as Loggly or Papertrail to give you a real-time tail of your logs and more complex processing or even alerting.

Papertrail Live Logging

Currently, we support the syslog protocol with an optional token authentication, but we are also exploring additional logging destinations in the future.

Permanent Log Storage

There are some cases that require logs in real-time, but there are also cases that require long-term log storage. In the past, this was a tedious task, but we are happy to announce that you are now able to configure long term log storage into one of your storage zones, where our logging system will automatically upload and permanently store your log files at the end of every day.

This removes the current 3 day logging limit and allows you to store the files for as long as you want. If you need to store logs to look up 1 year later, that's now completely possible and just a few clicks away.

As always, the both features come completely free of charge and have already been enabled for all accounts. They are currently in Preview, so please let us know if you run into any issues or have any feedback to help us further improve the new system.

Happy logging!
