Digital nomads: Hopping around is in our DNA

Posted by:

At bunny.net, our remote work culture is more than a company policy—it's a lifestyle deeply embedded in our DNA. We're thriving in this atmosphere, embracing flexibility not as mere corporate empty words but as core principles we live by every day. This isn't just about working from home; it's about making the entire world your office.

Our bunnies can connect and work from literally anywhere as long as they have a steady internet connection. Do they dream about living on the beach or in a buzzing metropolis? That's not a problem. They can work in their swimsuits or simply connect in the local cafeteria—whatever works best for them.

We strongly believe that the freedom to choose where we work boosts our creativity and maintains a work-life balance that is genuinely fulfilling.

Nomads bunnies on the rise

Being a digital nomad means embracing a “nomadic” lifestyle while working remotely, not being tied to a specific location. Digital nomads usually change their location every few months and aspire not only to visit but to “live the vibe” of the places they’ve been to. The freedom to choose your location while keeping your job is the biggest “pro” of digital nomadism.

The rise of digital nomadism isn’t just a trend; it's a significant shift in our working behavior. Since 2015, the share of employees who work remotely all or most of the time has increased from 7% to 28% as of 2023. This transformation is largely driven by the search for a better work-life balance and the technological advances that make remote work easier and more efficient.

At bunny.net, we mirror this global movement, offering our team the autonomy to seamlessly blend lifestyle aspirations with career ambitions.

But what really sets bunny.net apart in the world of remote working? Most importantly, we DO mean it, and we support every life decision of our team members, not by setting obstacles but by helping them instead.

So, let's hop into the lives of our very own globe-trotting bunnies and explore the joys and challenges of their digital nomad lifestyles.

Bruno’s global journey: A true nomadic spirit in our fluffle

Bruno is an integral part of our fluffle, loved for his energy and natural ability to connect with team members from all corners of the globe. Originally from Paraguay, Bruno hopped to the U.S. to complete his studies before joining the bunny.net fluffle. While still a student, he embraced the nomadic lifestyle and has since set up his warren in Madrid, Spain, and recently abandoned it for the charming Ljubljana, where he wants to stay for a while.

But Bruno is always on the move. He has the heart of an explorer, and a plane ticket is always within reach. In just one month, he can be spotted working from cafes and coworking spaces in Madrid, Rome, Munich, London, Ljubljana, Paraguay, and back to the U.S. He even says he plans on visiting China later this year.

Bruno tailors his work schedule to fit his adventurous lifestyle, no matter where he is, proving that productivity can happen in any time zone.

In love with Asia!

Cédric’s adventurous odyssey: Navigating across Asia

Cédric, our VP of Finance, originates from France and found his home base in London - a city he adores—but his heart also beats for Asia. For the last six months, he’s been exploring the region and living his passion for Asian cultures. From Thailand to Cambodia, Bali to Vietnam, there is hardly a place he hasn’t set foot in yet or plans to visit shortly, with his next stop being Japan.

Cédric’s bucket list is filled with travel plans, as only a true nomad can have. By far the most intriguing is his six-month journey across South America, which is even more adventurous considering his young family is joining as well!

Cédric’s adventurous life does not interfere with the functioning of our Finance Department—it works like a Swiss clock without disruptions.

Jure’s third Japan adventure: Balancing work and Sakura blossoms

Jure, our Head of Marketing, shares a deep affection for Asia, particularly Japan, which he visited twice before. This spring, he decided it was the perfect time to make a third visit and introduce his girlfriend to the country's stunning landscapes and blossoming Sakura trees. Given the unpredictability of the Sakura season,  they opted for a leisurely six-week journey to ensure they didn't miss the blossoms.

However, the timing was tricky as our marketing department was bustling with preparations for the upcoming NAB Show in Las Vegas. With all the marketing materials needing attention, Jure couldn't take a traditional vacation. Recognizing his crucial role, he cleverly split his days into "fun" and "work" segments, allowing him to soak in Japan’s beauty while staying connected and ensuring our projects stayed on track.

Jure's adventure underscores the unique flexibility that bunny.net offers its team. Even when the timing isn't ideal—like overlapping with major project deadlines—our culture supports personal pursuits alongside professional responsibilities. This balance is important for us, allowing every bunny to weave their travel dreams into reality without sacrificing work quality or missing out on life's special moments. This proves that with the right approach, you can indeed have the best of both worlds.

Living the dream: The freedom of choice

Choosing a nomadic lifestyle is not for everybody, yet it expresses the freedom of life without ties and borders. Many of us dreamed of such a lifestyle when we were younger, but at the time, we had only a few carrots in our pockets and couldn’t afford the plane tickets. However, having flexible work with a steady salary is the best combo that allows our bunnies to live their way and follow their personal bucket list, and we’re thrilled to see it happening!  At bunny.net, we hop together, grow, and succeed, making the world our playground of possibilities.
